ACT event: Dignity and kindness in residential care

 

On Thursday 22 June 2023, AAG' s ACT Division and the University of Canberra Ageing Research Group are hosting an event on dignity and kindness in residential aged care.

Discussing this important and timely topic are two guest speakers, Luis Cordero from Davidson University in the USA and Dr Rodney Jilek from Community Home Australia.

Participants will:

  • Learn about residential aged care innovation in countries around the world
  • Gain knowledge on how different cultures care for older people
  • Learn about relationship-centred care for younger-onset dementia

National Palliative Care Awards now open

Many of our members are involved in research, policy or practice relating to palliative care. Like AAG, Palliative Care Australia is a member of the National Aged Care Alliance (NACA). With that in mind, we share with you a call for nominations for the National Palliative Care Awards.

Held every two years, these awards recognise excellence, innovation, teamwork, and emerging talent in Australia's palliative care sector. In addition, this year's award line-up features a new award for lifetime achievement.

Pharmacists in Aged Care symposium

 

On Monday 26 June, the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) is hosting a Pharmacists in Aged Care Stakeholder Symposium in Brisbane.

The aim of this hybrid (in person and online) event is to promote the role of onsite pharmacists in residential aged care, and to consider how a community of practice could support pharmacists in this setting.
